Aleyna, age 9 and Mika, age 7 came to spend 2 weeks at Grandma and Grandpa’s RiverCamp this July/August (2014).
The tranquil RiverHouse braced herself for double the bodies and eight times the energy; but, just as the river adjusts to surges and draughts, so did the house accommodate Mika and Aleyna.
The house tolerated the invasion better than the cats:
For sleeping, they moved their nests from place to place. Aleyna started in the guestroom/den and Mika was in the reading nook with a foam mattress. One night we camped out, but Cazador attacked the tent. At least Aleyna and I had a good view of the stars.
We ate outside, mostly, so the dogs could help clean up. Those were a series of hot days, so we spent much of the day in the pool or the river. In the evenings, we read The Moffats by Eleanor Estes and wrote about the day’s adventures to bring home to Mommy and Daddy back in North Carolina.
